Concert day

The rehearsal and performance schedule for all performers, from stage door to final chord.

General information

All entry is through the Stage Door (Door C) near the corner of George and Druitt Streets. Collect your wrist bands at the Stage Door — there is a lift if you need it. Performers’ bags may be left in the main hall during the rehearsal, and should be placed in the Marconi Room during the performance.

Schedule

8:00amStage Door opens. Bump in orchestral percussion and stands, set stage.
9:00amOrchestra in position and rehearsing.
9:30amSecondary and adult choir arrives, takes places in voice sections in the body of the hall.
10:00amSecondary and adult choir rehearsal on stage risers, overflow in the northern and southern galleries, end bay. Conductors: Brett Weymark, Warren Fisher.
10:15–10:30amPrimary choirs arrive and go straight to the Lower Town Hall.
11:00amPrimary choir seated in Lower Town Hall — warm-up and initial rehearsal.
11:30–11:45amPrimary choir moves to Centenary (Main) Hall. Secondary and adult rehearsal continues; primary choir seated for the Medley rehearsal in the first ten rows (D to N).
11:45am–12:30pmCombined rehearsal — the Medley, I Still Call Australia Home, and O Come All Ye Faithful.
12:30pmEnd of combined choir and orchestra rehearsal. Secondary/adult choir released, orchestra bump out, stage reset. Primary choir toilet break, then take places on stage.
12:45pmPrimary choir rehearsal on stage risers plus 100 chairs on stage with piano.
2:45pmEnd primary choir rehearsal; primary choir released to the Lower Town Hall to refresh and rest.
3:00pmIndividual items ready in Centenary (Main) Hall for sound check, then free to leave the Town Hall.
3:30pmSound checks complete.

Pre-concert

3:00pmFront doors open — Door A (George Street). Hall doors remain closed.
3:10pmDisability patrons access concert hall seating. Additional ticket sales, raffle tickets and meet-and-greet in the Sydney Town Hall foyer.
3:15pmFoyer doors open.
3:30pmCentenary Hall doors open. Organ recital.
3:30pmPrimary choir moves into position from the Lower Town Hall. Individual item performers gather in the Marconi Room; all other choir members take their places for the first half.

Concert

TimeWhat happens
4:00pmConcert commences with primary choir and individual items.
4:45pmInterval — 20 minutes. Stage set for orchestra; secondary/adult choir move to positions; orchestra takes their places; primary choir moves to the front rows of the hall.
5:05pmSecond half.
6:30pmConcert concludes.
