Choir Q & A
Everything you need to know for preparing and performing in Celebration Sing Out! 2026.
Disability access
What provisions are in place for singers with a disability or injury?
Celebration Sing Out! welcomes all who love to sing, regardless of disability or injury, as far as the venue and performance requirements can accommodate you. Please let us know of your particular needs through the registration form, or by email — we have several such notifications already, thank you.
With respect to an injury or an emerging condition, please email us as soon as possible so that we have the best chance to accommodate your needs. We will work with you to create an access plan for the venue, and strategies for rehearsal and performance placement, to ensure you have a great experience singing with the choir.
What to wear
What is the choir wearing for the concert?
Long-sleeved white tops and long black bottoms. No watches or items of jewellery that could catch the bright lights. Aboriginal singers may wear a small non-reflective item or two that displays their totem and colours — earrings, a necklace, bracelets, a brooch, a hair tie or a discreet scarf. If in doubt, send a photo for advice.
Rehearsing
When are live rehearsals?
All rehearsals are listed on the rehearsals page.
What if I can’t attend an in-person rehearsal? Can I still sing in the choir?
Yes. All rehearsals are livestreamed if you wish to join in at home; links are on the website and posted in newsletters close to each rehearsal. The livestreamed rehearsals are also recorded and posted as videos several days later.
I’m not a choir member — can I still join?
Yes. Everyone should register independently, whether or not they currently sing in a choir.
I don’t have much singing experience. Am I good enough for the choir?
Our online recordings are designed to help you learn the repertoire easily. Try listening to the Spotify playlist in the car or on your commute to reinforce your learning.
I don’t have anyone to rehearse with — can you help?
Yes. Please indicate on your registration that you’d like to be matched with a singing buddy and we’ll let you know your nearest host. We have singing buddies in North Parramatta, Cremorne and Waitara.
I’d like to be a singing buddy and form a rehearsal group in my area. How do I do this?
Note it on your registration form and we’ll start linking you with buddies looking to share the experience. A fabulous way to connect with others and make new friends.
Performing
Does the choir sing from memory, or may we use our scores?
Scores may be used, preferably in a black folder or cover.
When is concert day?
The finale rehearsal and concert day is Sunday 1 November. Attend one day only to put it all together and perform.
